Bamboo Tableware

Care Instructions

Bamboo is technically a grass and although quite strong, it needs proper care to last you as long as possible. Our bamboo plates, boards, and dipping cups are NOT dishwasher or microwave safe. We recommend hand washing them with cold to lukewarm soapy water then immediately towel drying them and placing them on a drying rack, or upright so exposed to the air. Do not allow the bamboo to soak, as it is porous and long exposure to water will cause it to warp and crack. The boards are intended to be for serving, and not like a cutting board. You can cut on them but they will, like any piece of wood, show cut marks. If the board is drying out and the food safe finish is looking worn, we also recommend oiling your bamboo products with a food safe mineral oil. DO NOT use any kind of cooking oils. Oiling your boards will also prolong their life and maintain the integrity of the bamboo. Food safe mineral oils can be found at many major retailers. If you have stains on your boards (which is normal) or if there is an odor from a strong food, and either are bothering you, you can simply treat your plate or board with lemon juice OR baking soda. Either sprinkle the spot with baking soda and give it a gentle scrub with a dishrag, or rub some lemon juice on the area and then rinse and dry. The stains will also fade over time. We do not recommend any harsh cleaning products be used on the board (nothing with bleach, alcohol or other toxic chemicals).

Suction + Silicone Care

The small plate has removable suction. Mildew can form is the suction portion is not periodically removed. If this happens, remove the suction and wash it with warm soapy water. Then allow all pieces to dry and attach suction portion back onto the plate. Be sure to wash the suction portion well. If it feels oily at all it could interfere with the strength of the suction. Silicone products are dishwasher safe, top rack recommended.

beeswax wrap

Care Instructions

For the best beeswax wrap care, gently wash with a mild soap (preferably eco-friendly), and rinse with cool or lukewarm water. Dry with a towel then hang to allow the wrap to dry completely. Avoid using harsh soaps, rigorous scrubbing, and hot water, as this will break down the beeswax wraps and shorten their life. We suggest folding them and storing them in a drawer or in a basket. With proper beeswax wrap care, they should last up to a year or more! If the wax begins to flake off there are methods to warm the wax and revive them (a simple Google search will offer some tutorials). If revival is not your preference and they have had a good life, you don't have to feel bad about tossing them, as they are completely biodegradable, we actually recommend that you compost them!
